Be Still

Mountains glow with morning light
As night sky wanes and fades away
Dewdrops falling to budding blooms
A gentle breeze makes treetops sway

Distant cries of hawks on wing
Piercing quickly through rising mist
Calling down to still sleeping hills
Awakes them from their dream filled bliss

Here I watch this world unfold
As slowly a new day begins
Colors and sounds blending as one
My mind is swift to take it in.

Then I knew the truth behind
The beauty there of sky and sod
I heard these words so crystal clear
"Be still and know that I am God"
Psalm 46:10

Angel Song

High up in the tree tops
Light as falling snow
A sound rings out so crisp and clear
To listening ears below
A melody so sweet and pure
It sets the heart to flight
It reaches the most hardened souls
And turns the dark to light.
As refreshing as the morning dew
It's voice so pure and mild.
The songs of earthbound angels perhaps?
Tis the laughter of a child.

My Mother's Hands

As I look into my mirror
On this frosty winter's morn
I see a face familiar
Though a little bit more worn

God has added a few new wrinkles
And my hair's a bit more thin
I often wonder how I'll look
Say, twenty years from then

I see how God keeps molding us
To become what we shall be,
And to my surprise, what do I find?
My mother's hands in front of me

The hands that dried a thousand tears
And made our sadness fly
The hands that held us while she rocked
As she sang sweet lullabies

Her long and slender fingers
That held on to ours so tight
Our fears and loneliness forgotten
As we walked out in the night

My mother's hands are precious
Through the years they've done so much
Her gifts of love and devotion
Surely have that heavenly touch

To have hands like my dear mother
Are blessings of layer upon layer
But to truly be like theirs in spirit
Will take a lifetime of love and prayer

May God Bless,
Karen Davidson
